Still Bent on Unhealthy Headphones After Knowing

No doubt, headphones have made our life easier. We may seem to have conquered distractions and can control our immediate surroundings. That’s how you and I feel. Reality is slightly different. Read on.

If you are always with your earphones plugged in for hours, you are risking not just your hearing – but a bit more.

Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)

Loud music results in Noise Induced Hearing Loss – temporary or permanent loss of hearing. Doctors always advise keeping music volume low and if you plan to blow it loud-use speakers. You must plan a 5-10 minutes break every now and then if you are chronic headphone user.

Your Absent Mind. Evident Mishap

Use of headphones result in serious mishaps. There are cases where people walk into death traps while they are busy with their calls or music with their headphones on. While driving you must have noticed people walking on pavements, crossing roads while laughing, and talking into their headphones. These are the people who do bump into ways of moving, traffic. Even when you are driving yourself with headphones on, you can’t hear the traffic. After all driving is 10% skill and 90% anticipation. With headphones on, you are merely 10% as efficient.

Not Hygienic-Sharing Headphones. Sharing Germs

If you are not changing their rubber covers or sponge routinely  every two months, bacteria grow over there. Borrowing or sharing headphones too expose us to harmful bacteria resulting in harmful ear infections. In case, you have shared or lent your headphones- clean them with a tissue paper and sanitiser before reusing.

Noise Cancelling Earphones. And the Tragedies

Usually low volume played on noise cancelling earphones is very good for your mind and ears but imagine wearing them on busy road or public area. You won’t be able to make out vehicles coming your way, or to hear the blaring horns. What if some mishap is about to happen- a mad bull running towards you excited &  people asking you to get out of the way?

Worst Travel Companions

You heard it just alright.

While you’re in a noisy train or bus, this noise is adding up to the decibel level in addition. Most of us people read while plugged in. Both activities are shunned by research as harmful and recommended to be avoided in a moving pace.

Chronic Use is  Harmful for Eardrums. Can cause Vertigo or Dizziness

Especially true about the sleek invisible, in-ear headphones. They are routed directly inside your ear canal and can cause hearing loss.Loud music listeners experience vertigo due to pressure that loud noise causes in the ear.

Exercise Headphone Free

Ideally the only thing you must hear when exercising  should be the sound of your own feet

hitting the ground. Using your headphones while exercising outdoors can be dangerous- they distract and the chords may come confused with our body movements.

It is a myth that Headphones improve Concentration

Studies prove that people plugged into music while studying or working are able to actually focus less than those who don’t use them.

Surprised? Don’t be. The human ear evolved over millions of years and the headphones, eh 30 years?
