Expressing yourself through dancing helps connect the mind and body. Dancing helps us concentrate and sleep better, have more energy and becoming more resilient when faced with mental or emotional crises in life.

From Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Traditional garba or Giddha , Bhangra to modern Ballroom dancing, Waltzing, Tango – our Indian culture is evidently rich and diverse in mixing and matching various forms of dances and marks celebration in most of our lifestyle features. Dancing is enjoyable, refreshing and comes along with various health perks.

Consider these tips to make the most of dancing without straining or hurting yourself:  

  • Checking with your doctor to rule out any medical condition, possibly your BMI per your age
  • Wearing layers of clothing that can be taken off easily as the body warms up before every session
  • Warm-up stretches or activities before  beginning a dance session
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during and after dancing session
  • Get adequate rest in-between dance sessions
  • Donot push yourself too far or too fast initially
  • Wear appropriate footwear
  • Holding the correct form, posture while dancing
  • Cool down after every dance session that  includes stretching
