Eat, Sleep, Meditateto improve your Alertness!

Feeling distracted, decentred and unfocused. Sluggish not able to seize the moment. It’s not uncommon, our lifestyle and environment takes a toll leading to us not being alert. Here are a few simple remedies  – EAT, SLEEP, PRAY & WORKOUT. 

Oatmeal is a perfect Breakfast 

A complex carbohydrate- oats are filled with fibre and about six gms of protein  can make you feel energised and full for longer. Eat your oats with milk to up the protein in your breakfast. Add flavour, if you like it.

Eat Healthy Breakfast comprising eggs 

Good news for the egg lovers that eggs are a must-eat breakfast. Eating hard-boiled eggs for breakfast improves the ability to focus during the day. 

Have Coffee for Improved  Mental Agility and Alertness

Research proves that coffee stimulates mental and memory performance because it is able to regulate concentration in the brain. Yeah sure, but don’t over caffeinate yourself. 

You can have your Dark Chocolate 

Dark chocolate is rich in nutrients like vitamins A, B, and E, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper and manganese and is loaded with antioxidants called flavonoids.  Dark chocolate not only lowers blood pressure and protecting against heart disease, it also improves brain function. 

Eat the Fish, if you do 

Certain fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids that have a very important role in maintaining brain health. Recent research has indicated that Omega-3 fatty acids improve attention. 

Sleep enough-positively

Getting a good night’s sleep makes all the difference as to how alert and energised you feel in the morning. Sleep rests your brain and body and improves its functioning. If you haven’t been able to get your eight hours sleep, try and sneak in a 30 minutes power nap. Even that would do.

Do not Scroll in bed 

Backlit screens suppress and upset the sleep cycle, making it harder to drop off and disrupting the quality of sleep when you do. So, strictly avoid scrolling in bed and stay off the bright screen light two hours before you are off to sleep. 

Stick to a fixed sleep routine 

By making this change, you’ll find that your body starts to unwind, sleeps better, and wakes up more easily and more refreshed.

Exercise for Mental Agility and Alertness

Exercise is truly the solution for all ills, even those related to mental health and alertness. It has the ability to re-energise and revitalise you and, in fact, working out can significantly improve focus. So, do take time out for a jog or a run before you head to  work so that your brain is working optimally. 

De-stress for Mental Agility and Alertness

Cut out stress to the maximum. Start meditating as a few minutes of meditation can help calming down your brain and help it repair.
