Fantastic Foods for Men’s health
They say what you eat is what you become. By that logic, we must think, are we becoming carriers of saturated fats, unwanted calories or any nutritional deficiencies? Given the polluted environment and stressful lifestyles, men really don’t have to do a lot of wrong things to fall victim to obesity, blood pressure, and COPD diseases. They are easy prey. But there are foods that can help you stay immune. And there are foods that can make things worse. Here is a list of what to eat and what to avoid, in order to stay away from lifestyle diseases men are prone to.
Men’s diet Must Have
- Fatty Fish
Salmon, tuna, trout, and sardines are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which in turn, are a source of Vitamin-D. As you age, you will need calcium, and your bones will need strength. And fish will give it to you. Vegetarians can resort to spinach, dairy products and other calcium supplements to fulfil their calcium supplements.
- Whole Grains
Cardiologists backs them. They say whole grains have the fiber that keeps your heart stronger. Also, middle aged men must have them in their diet. They will need it more than anyone else. Whole grain breads, Indian Breads and pulses carry a rich amount of protein in their diets.
- Probiotics
Ayurveda says “Gut is everything”. 70 percent of your immunity resides in the gut. A strong gut, a properly functioning digestive system is the key to a goodlife. You don’t even need a dietician for this. You can pick up the nearest yogurt can and have it after or with the meal. Apart from that, Kefir, Sauerkraut, Tempeh, Kimchi, and pickles can help you with your daily dose of probiotics.
- Dark Vegetables
The biggest thing about them is, antioxidants. The same antioxidants that fight oxidative stress, the inflammation that causes arthritis, heart disease, and types of cancer. They also add a certain taste to your food. For vegetarians, it is a must have item in your meal.
Apart from these, there are also foods that you must avoid. The ones that do no good to your body and mind.
Men’s Diet: Foods to be avoided
- Junk Food
You probably don’t need a second reminder for this. The late-night cravings, the sugar-based foods, and all the fancy jazz you wish to hog on are probably going to give you a tough time. More often than not, they are cooked in unhealthy oils and can cause a dent in your insulin levels, and eventually lead to diabetes of heart problems.
- Canned food
Anything that’s processed, stored and not fresh, will eventually harm your body. They might sound tempting with all the ready to eat labels on their packaging, but these cheap meals will prove expensive for your health.
- Beer
Who doesn’t love a Friday night with music, friends, and beer? We all do. But if you want these nights to last longer, keep a cap on the mugs. While people do say beer is rich in fiber, you must limit it to one mug a day. Overconsumption can often lead to liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, high blood pressure and even psychological disorders.
Apart from all these points, diet is a wholesome practice. It means what to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat. Time your meals. Make sure you aren’t overeating. Make sure that there’s enough time in between your meals. Do this, and a good life is waiting for you!
