WHAT IS DENGUE FEVER?
Dengue fever is a flu-like illness that is passed between people via bites from the Aedes mosquito. Dengue hemorrhagic fever, a severe form of the illness, can be fatal if not treated early in the hospital. Anyone who has symptoms of dengue fever should see a doctor. Keep in mind that other, less serious health conditions can cause the same symptoms.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF DENGUE FEVER?
Some of the symptoms of Dengue Fever are:
High fever, chills
Body aches or pains
Diarrhea
Headache
Skin rash
Joint pains,
Fatigue
Nausea or vomiting
Bleeding from the nose or gums
DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT
Diagnosis: Dengue is diagnosed by a review of patient’s medical history and condition by a physical examination. Blood tests confirm Dengue is positive or not.
Treatment: There is no cure for the illness, the treatment addresses the symptoms. Treatment typically includes: getting plenty of bed rest, drinking plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration, medication for pain and fever, Intravenous fluids, blood and platelet transfusion, blood pressure support (for severe dengue fever)

Consult a Doctor immediately if Dengue Symptoms present
Avoiding drugs containing ibuprofen, or aspirin because of the risk of hemorrhage
Prevention is the best cure. Dengue can be prevented by adopting measures to prevent breeding of aedes mosquitoes and protecting oneself from getting mosquito bites such as using repellants, wearing full sleeves, keeping doors, windows closed etc.
